20th Anniversary Clean Up Australia Day
Sun March 7th 2010
Veolia Environmental Services has been a major sponsor of Clean Up Australia Day for over10 years and have proudly participated in each and every Clean Up day since.
More importantly however Veolia Environmental Services supports Clean up Australia because of the environmental education and community values this initiative underpins. These values align with our own corporate values and the principles of sustainable development which Veolia Environmental Services has adopted.
Clean Up Australia was inspired by builder and solo yachtsman, Ian Kiernan AO. On a solo world voyage Ian was shocked and disgusted by the amount of pollution in the seas. He vowed to do something about it by cleaning up his own backyard, Sydney Harbour. The rest, as they say, is history. What started in Sydney Harbour in 1989 has become Clean Up the World, a worthy program involving 124 countries and a million volunteers.
The 20th Anniversary is set to be the biggest and best yet and it;s easy to get involved - simply visit www.cleanup.com.au or email national@veolia.com.au for more information.
