Veolia Environnement releases global 2006 Annual Report and Sustainable Development Report

 

Veolia Environnement has released the 2006 Annual Report and 2006 Global Sustainability Report.

The Annual Report details that the VE group,globally, has broadened it's workforce to over 298, 498 people in 67 countries, demonstrating the size of the business on a international scale. Recording significant revenue increases of close to 12%, the VE family on whole has shown significant strength and growth.

The 2006 results also confirmed the success of international expansion, with 53% of all VE revenue now generated outside of France.

Henri Proglio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Environnement comments on the results "We owe our vigorous growth in revenue and operating income to the aptness of our business model... these results are proof that our solutions effectively answer the needs of more and more public authorities and industrial firms that want to improve their environmental performance".

Likewise the results across all four elements of VE, Water, Environmental Services, Transport and Energy in relation to Sustainable Development have also been impressive.

The Sustainable Development Report Highlights the following as common golas for all divisions within VE to foster Sustainable Developkent in all areas of operation.

2. Limit our impacts

• Combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions

• Reduce polluting emissions

• Integrate our facilities into their environment through a

sustainable construction approach

behavioral changes needed

 

3. Contribute to economic and social development

• Ensure employees’ health and safety

• Guarantee working conditions that respect human rights and comply

with international labor standards

• Promote diversity and equal opportunities by fighting discrimination

• Encourage skills development and the upward mobility of our employees

• Support local economic growth

• Improve people’s access to essential services

• Support research and development in order to respond to the needs of

future generations
