Veolia and Rio Tinto sign major service agreement.
In early 2009, Veolia Environmental Services successfully negotiated a long term partnership with mining company Rio Tinto for the provision of industrial services for its eastern seaboard operations.
The partnership will see Veolia provide industrial solutions including abrasive blasting, high-pressure water jetting, vacuum loading and recovery, protective coatings, spill and emergency response, refractory management, scaffolding, building maintenance, waste management and resource recovery services.
The contract will cover major sites along the east-coast of Australia including several sites where Veolia is already established including Boyne Smelters in Gladstone, Queensland. The contract has been signed for a period of 10 years and both Veolia and Rio Tinto are looking forward to forging a long standing business partnership.
Rio Tinto is one of the world’s largest mining companies with over 30 major locations in Australia alone with operations spanning the mining and production of materials such as copper, aluminium, gold, coal, diamonds, uranium, nickel and iron ore. With such a vast operational portfolio, Veolia is looking forward to providing innovative, efficient, cost-effective and valuable solutions to Rio Tinto over the life of the contract
