Veolia NSW installs solar panels for a brighter future

Veolia Environmental Services NSW has recently installed a 50kW solar panel system at Arndell Park, creating electricity from the sun.

The installation boasts 220 panels on tilt frames to ensure maximum exposure to the sun and is estimated to produce 70MWh annually. Managed by BP Solar, the project was installed by Solar Technology and is part of the Blacktown SolarCity project; an Australian Government initiative to help lay the foundations of a sustainable energy future.

This solar project supports Veolia’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy expenses and increase generation of renewable energy; complimenting waste-to-energy bioreactor technology as well as wind energy projects already in production in Tarago,NSW.

Solar Panel Facts:

  • 50kW of solar panels will abate approximately 70 tonnes of CO2 each year;
  • A saving of 70 tonnes of CO2 is the equivalent of taking around 17 cars off the road each year, and;
  • 50kW of solar panels produces enough energy to power over 10 homes.
