With females representing close to half of Australia’s workforce, Veolia has prioritized professional opportunities and career support for its current, and as importantly, future female employees.
As a result, in 2008/09 VESA launched two major development initiatives aimed at the retention and development of female employees at all levels. Of particular note was the program entitled ‘Women Moving Forward’ (WMF). WMF was the first in-house program of its kind in Australia; with ten female employees selected across all business levels and units to participate in the ten month program.
The key aim of the program was to empower females within the workplace by improving business acumen and competence in areas of negotiation, visibility in the workplace, career development, assertive communication skills, and striking a work-life balance, amongst other key professional capabilities and skills.
Veolia Environmental Services remains passionate about encouraging female employees at all levels within our business and is, as a result, delighted to be regarded as a finalist in this prestigious EOWA award.
