Veolia Environmental Services Scoops the
Pool at the recent WMAA Landfill and Transfer Station Excellence Awards
Named National Winner in both categories
The Woodlawn Bio reactor and Clyde Transfer Terminal have ‘scooped the pool’ at the recent WMAA Landfill and Transfer Stations Conference held in Melbourne during November.
These Awards further reinforce the widely held opinion that the Clyde/Woodlawn facilities provide the best solution for the responsible management of Putrescible Waste in Australia today.
The Woodlawn Bio reactor received the Gold Award, taking first place in the National Landfill Excellence Awards.
Judging was conducted by three independent academics from different states of Australia involving a formal submission against pre determined criteria coupled with a half day site tour. Woodlawn defeated 16 other submission from organizations such as SITA, Thiess and TPI as well as a number of regional Landfills.
The award is fitting recognition for the people involved in the development and management of the Woodlawn Bio reactor since its inception in August 2004, providing continued recognition after recent awards from the National Institute of Logistics.
Further to the success of Woodlawn, the Clyde Transfer Terminal took out first place in the National Transfer Stations Excellence Awards – Large Transfer Station category.
This award was judged similarly to the landfill Award with the judges agreeing “that all aspects of the Clyde Transfer Terminal were technically advanced and environmentally secure” they went on to say “the Clyde Transfer terminal operates to the highest consent and licence conditions imposed on a waste facility in NSW, and its onsite management systems rate very highly.”
The Judges comments welcome words to all those that work so very hard to make Clyde the facility that it is.
Congratulations to all involved in the success of both Woodlawn and Clyde we look forward to continuing to set the standards in to the future.
