Environmental and Greenhouse Credentials
Greenhouse Abatement Accreditation
In 2004, NRS gained accreditation from the Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO) under the Greenhouse Friendly program. NRS technology has been demonstrated to maintain aerobic conditions within the entire composting mass, making it eligible to attain greenhouse credits attributed to the diversion of materials from general landfill; where it would consequently generate methane under the prevailing anaerobic degradation conditions.
Since this time, five annual audits have been successfully conducted under the Department of Climate Change’s Greenhouse Friendly* program, resulting in the combined sale of approximately 100,000 tonnes of abatement offsets to a broad range of Australian and international companies. *The Greenhouse Friendly program was wound up by the Federal Government in 2010 in preparation for the introduction of a carbon trading scheme.
Environmental Performance
NRS in-vessel composting technology, with over ten years of operating history, has been proven to efficiently convert a range of organic wastes into high quality composts, without having caused any environmental issues.
