Composting
With the support of EcoRecycle Victoria, Veolia Environmental Services in partnership with Universal Recycling and CR Hudson & Associates has developed Victoria’s first commercialised, In-vessel composting technology, which produces Australian Standard AS4454-1999 compost.
The in-vessel composting technology provides optimum conditions for naturally occurring micro-organisms to convert organic waste materials into rich organic soil additives, destroying potentially harmful micro-organisms and weed seeds in the process.
The compost product offers many long-term environmental benefits to the horticultural and agricultural industries including:
- Improved soil structure and moisture conservation properties;
- Reduction in the potential for the development of soil born diseases in plants;
- Reduced pesticide and synthetic fertiliser usage.
